CleenU product solution
Fruit & Vegetable Wash
Food-grade formula · Lifts surface wax · Private label
Waxy apples that water won't clean? Spray, rub 20–30 seconds, and rinse under running water, or soak 2–3 minutes at about 2 teaspoons per half gallon; you'll feel the difference on the skin. Fragrance-free, factory-direct private label.
- Apples and citrus often carry a wax coating, and the crevices of produce and the base of leafy greens hold dirt and oily residue that water just runs over. A food-grade alkyl polyglucoside emulsifies the wax and residue, sodium citrate softens the water, and a rub and rinse carry it away.
- It helps remove surface wax, dirt, and oily residue. Nothing you wash with removes what's absorbed into the flesh, so peel produce you can peel, like apples or cucumbers. That's why our page and labels say only that it removes surface wax and dirt, with no pesticide-removal percentages.

How it works
How surface wax washes off
Produce wax includes the fruit's own cuticle wax and food-grade coatings applied after harvest, mixed with dirt and oily residue. Alkyl polyglucoside, a mild surfactant made from plant sugar and fatty alcohol, wets the water-repellent wax and emulsifies it with the oils; sodium citrate chelates hard-water minerals to prevent scum; rubbing and running water carry the emulsion away.
- Spray the produce
- Emulsifies wax and oil
- Rub 20–30 seconds
- Rinse under running water
- Clean skin

Where Fruit & Vegetable Wash stands out
Why water alone falls short

Product, use, and procurement
Why use a produce wash instead of water?
Water rinses off dirt, but wax coatings, oily surface residue, and grime stuck in crevices don't dissolve in water. The food-grade surfactants in a produce wash emulsify that oily layer so a rinse carries it away.
Does it remove pesticides?
It helps remove surface wax, dirt, and oily residue. Nothing you wash with removes what's absorbed into the flesh. For produce you can peel, like apples or cucumbers, peeling is the more thorough option.
Will it leave residue?
Rub as directed and rinse under running water for 15–30 seconds, and the surfactants rinse away. The formula uses food-grade ingredients, so a good rinse leaves no taste or smell.
What should we decide first for a private-label produce wash?
Format, scope, and claims. A spray to rub on or a soak for a bowl; whether to position it for baby bottles and dishes too, as an all-around kitchen wash; and restrained claims on the label, limited to removing surface wax and dirt.
How fast can we get samples and a first order?
Free samples ship in 3–5 days. MOQ is 500 bottles, and production is scheduled once packaging and labels are approved.
What's in a fruit and vegetable wash?
Food-grade surfactants that loosen wax and oily residue so plain water can rinse it off. That's the part water alone can't do. The wash is designed to rinse away, so finish with 15–30 seconds under running water.
Is vinegar or baking soda just as good?
For dirt, they're fine. For wax coatings and oily residue, a produce wash does more, because vinegar and baking soda don't emulsify oils the way food-grade surfactants do. On waxed apples and cucumbers, spray, rub 20–30 seconds, and rinse.
Does it kill bacteria or parasites?
No. It's a cleaner, not a disinfectant or sanitizer. It helps remove surface wax, dirt, and oily residue. Rub produce as directed, rinse under running water, and eat it soon after washing.
Product usage questions
How do I use it?
Spray: mist the produce, rub 20–30 seconds, and rinse under running water. Soak: add about 2 teaspoons per half gallon of water, soak 2–3 minutes, rub, and rinse.
How do I wash berries and grapes?
Soak them in a colander for 1–2 minutes, swish gently without rubbing, then rinse under running water. Wash right before eating and don't store them wet.
Can I use it on mushrooms and leafy greens?
Greens, yes: separate the leaves, soak, and rinse. Mushrooms soak up water, so wipe them with a damp cloth or give them a quick rinse instead.
Can I use it on dishes?
Yes. The food-grade formula also works on baby bottles, cups, and dishes; just rinse.
Can I wash eggs with it?
Rinse eggshells with water; soaking isn't recommended.
How long should produce soak?
Usually 3–5 minutes, then rinse under running water.
Can I wash rice with it?
No need; rinse rice with plain water.
OEM/ODM customization questions
What can we customize?
Formula direction, scent (mostly fragrance-free), fill size (500 mL spray, soak concentrate, and more), label design and language, and kits with a colander and produce brush.
How should we test samples?
Test waxed apples, cucumbers, grapes, and leafy greens, and record waxy feel, how the surface feels after rinsing, any leftover smell, and any change in taste. That tells you more than a before-and-after photo.
What paperwork comes with a private-label order?
Documents such as SDS/MSDS, TDS, COA, and label copy for your target market are prepared per project. We confirm which ones your order includes when we quote.
Launching your own produce wash?
Send us your market, spray or soak, whether to cover bottles and dishes, and estimated volume. We'll build out product and label claims with you.
