Tune formulas and doses for pool or pond water
Pool & Pond Water Care Solution
A pool scale inhibitor is for prevention. Calcium and magnesium in pool water deposit as scale on waterline tile, filters, heaters, and salt cells, and a chelating scale preventer keeps them in solution so less new scale forms, but it won't remove thick existing scale. Ornamental ponds and water features have a different problem: sunlight, nutrients, and warm water turn the water green with suspended algae and hang string algae from the walls, which a dose-by-volume algae treatment brings under control over time with the filter running. Both need the water volume worked out first and a strict dose, and they can't be swapped. CleenU offers two water care products and makes private-label and OEM/ODM versions for pool and water-feature channels, distributors, and online sellers.

Pools and Ponds: Dose by Volume, Never Swap
To prevent scale on pool waterline tile, filters, heaters, and salt cells, first adjust the pool pH to 7.2–7.6, dose the pool scale preventer at 100 mL per 10 m³ to start, then 50 mL per 10 m³ weekly or every two weeks, and run circulation for 24 hours; remove thick existing scale by hand first. For green water and string algae in ornamental ponds, water features, and fountains, estimate the volume, dose the pond algae control at 20 mL per 1,000 L to start and 10 mL per 1,000 L every 2–4 weeks after, pre-dilute it, pour it along the edge, and keep the filter running; it takes 7–14 days to work. Never overdose, and add aeration and split doses in hot weather. Neither is for drinking water; the scale preventer isn't for ponds, the algae control isn't for pools, and the scale preventer must never share a container with concentrated chlorine.
- Water Type: Pool scale prevention and pond or water-feature algae control are separate jobs and can't be swapped.
- How It Works: A chelating agent keeps calcium and magnesium in solution to cut new scale; the algae treatment works with the filter to control suspended and string algae.
- Dosing: Pools: 100 mL per 10 m³ to start, 50 mL to maintain; ponds: 20 mL per 1,000 L to start, 10 mL to maintain.
- Uses: Pool water and equipment, ornamental ponds, water features, and fountains; neither is for drinking water.
- Dose Safety: Estimate the volume first, dose exactly, and never overdose the algae control.

Where to Use It
Pool Walls & Waterlines
New scale on waterline tile: adjust pH to 7.2–7.6, dose the scale preventer per 10 m³, and maintain regularly.
Filters & Heaters
Scale prevention on filters, heaters, and salt cells comes with the pool dose; circulate for 24 hours.
Ornamental Ponds
Green water and string algae: dose the algae control per 1,000 L with the filter running; results in 7–14 days.
Fountains & Water Features
Green water in fountains and features: estimate the volume, dose the algae control, and split doses in hot weather.
Spot-test natural stone, coated, and wood surfaces in a hidden area first.
When Not to Use It
- Drinking or household water: neither product is for drinking water.
- Using the scale preventer in a pond or the algae control in a pool: they do different jobs and aren't interchangeable.
- Thick existing pool scale: the scale preventer only prevents new scale, so remove old scale by hand or call a professional first.
- Dosing by guesswork: never overdose the algae control, add aeration and split doses in hot weather, and never mix the scale preventer with concentrated chlorine in the same container.

Compare the Options
Three common water care jobs, compared by product, pH, foam, and method. The pool scale preventer is dosed per 10 m³ to prevent calcium and magnesium scale; the pond algae control is dosed per 1,000 L and works with the filter to control algae. Both are calculated from water volume and can't be swapped.
| Cleaning Job | Where | Strength | Foam | Method |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pool Scale | Pool water, waterlines, and equipment | Neutral, pH 6.0–8.0 | None | 100 mL per 10 m³ to start, 50 mL to maintain, circulate 24 hours |
| Pond Algae | Ornamental ponds and water features | Neutral, pH 6.5–8.0 | None | 20 mL per 1,000 L to start, 10 mL to maintain, keep circulating |

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about how to use it, which surfaces are safe, and private-label orders.
Use & Cleaning
How do you remove scale from a pool waterline?
Thick waterline scale needs to be removed by hand or by a professional first. Then adjust pH to 7.2–7.6, dose the pool scale preventer at 100 mL per 10 m³ to start and 50 mL per 10 m³ weekly or every two weeks after, and circulate 24 hours to slow new scale.
How do you clear green pond water?
Estimate the pond volume, dose the pond algae control at 20 mL per 1,000 L to start, pre-dilute it, pour it along the edge, and keep the filter running; it takes 7–14 days to work. Then maintain with 10 mL per 1,000 L every 2–4 weeks. Never overdose, and add aeration and split doses in hot weather.
How often should you add pool scale inhibitor?
Start with 100 mL per 10 m³, then maintain with 50 mL per 10 m³ weekly or every two weeks, and top up for the added volume after large water changes or refills.
Surfaces & Safety
How do I estimate my pool or pond volume?
Length × width × average depth gives cubic meters, and 1 m³ is 1,000 L. For a round pool, use 3.14 × radius² × average depth.
Can I use the scale preventer in a pond?
No. The pool scale preventer is for pool water only; use the pond algae control for ponds and water features. Neither is for drinking water.
The pond is still green after a few days. Can I add more?
Don't add extra. The algae control usually takes 7–14 days, so keep the filter and aeration running; overdosing can harm the water and anything living in it.
Private Label & Sourcing
What should I prepare before asking about private-label pool or pond care?
Settle four things: pool scale prevention or pond algae control; measuring bottle size and dosing instructions; channel (pool, garden, or aquatics); and your target market's labeling and warning requirements. Then we'll arrange free samples, usually ready in 3–5 days.
What documents come with OEM water care products?
We provide SDS/MSDS, TDS, and batch COA, and prepare warning statements and label copy for your target market. These documents aren't posted for download; we send them on request after you inquire.
What are the MOQ and lead time for these products?
Standard projects start at 500 bottles. Free samples are usually ready in 3–5 days, and production is scheduled after packaging and labels are approved. Pool and water-feature products are seasonal, so confirm samples 1–2 months before summer.

Launching Pool or Pond Care Products? Start with Free Samples
Pool and pond care comes down to dosing by volume and never mixing up the uses: a chelating scale preventer for pool waterlines and equipment, 100 mL per 10 m³ to start and regular maintenance after; and an algae control for ponds and water features, 20 mL per 1,000 L to start, working over 7–14 days with the filter running, never overdosed. Neither is for drinking water. If you're a pool or water-feature brand launching your own water care products, CleenU can start from these two formulas, with free samples first and a 500-bottle MOQ.
