CleenU product solution
Helmet Cleaner
Freshens sweaty liners · Wipes bugs off shells · Private label
Helmet liner smells like sweat, cheek pads feel tacky, and the shell has bugs and fingerprints? Mist the liner and pads, press with a cloth to blot out sweat, and let dry; for the shell, mist a microfiber cloth and wipe. Removable liners do best hand-washed. Factory-direct private label.
- Riders sweat a lot, and sweat and skin oil soak into liner and cheek-pad foam, where bacteria break them down into sour odors that become obvious within days in summer, while the shell collects bugs, prints, and dust. This cleaner lifts sweat and oil with mild surfactants, traps odor with cyclodextrin, and stays near-neutral to go easy on shell paint and the protective liner.
- Anti-fog coatings inside visors and goggles don't tolerate wiping, so don't spray there, and never use solvent cleaners on the shell, which can damage polycarbonate and paint. Mist liners and pads and blot rather than scrubbing; removable liners do best hand-washed in warm water, dried fully before refitting to prevent mildew. Replace any helmet that's taken an impact; cleaning can't restore protection.

Before & after
Before and after (illustration)
Before: a motorcycle helmet after a month of summer commuting, with obvious sweat odor in the liner and pads and bugs on the forehead. After: liner and pads misted, blotted, and dried, and the shell wiped with a misted cloth, the odor is clearly reduced and the shell is clean.
- Before: sweaty liner, bugs on shell
- Liner misted and blotted, shell wiped
- Fresher liner, clean shell

How it works
How sweat odor fades
Helmet odor comes mainly from bacteria breaking down lactic acid, urea, and skin oil into short-chain fatty acids such as isovaleric acid. Mild nonionic surfactants emulsify oil and dissolve sweat salts so blotting pulls them into the cloth, cyclodextrin's hydrophobic cavity traps short-chain fatty acids and similar odor molecules, and a little ethanol speeds drying so the liner stays damp less long.
- Mist liner and pads
- Blot out sweat
- Emulsify oil, trap odor
- Wipe shell with misted cloth
- Dry fully

Where Helmet Cleaner stands out
Why helmets smell so bad
Riders sweat a lot, and sweat and skin oil soak into liner and cheek-pad foam, where bacteria break them down into sour odors that become obvious within days in summer, while the shell collects bugs, prints, and dust. This cleaner lifts sweat and oil with mild surfactants, traps odor with cyclodextrin, and stays near-neutral to go easy on shell paint and the protective liner.
Careful with visors and shells
Anti-fog coatings inside visors and goggles don't tolerate wiping, so don't spray there, and never use solvent cleaners on the shell, which can damage polycarbonate and paint. Mist liners and pads and blot rather than scrubbing; removable liners do best hand-washed in warm water, dried fully before refitting to prevent mildew. Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Find practical answers about Helmet Cleaner, private label, samples, MOQ, documents, and delivery.
Product, use, and procurement
Why not use solvent on a helmet shell?
Many shells are polycarbonate over EPS, and solvents can make them brittle and reduce protection. Use only a gentle cleaner.
How often should I clean my helmet?
In riding season, deodorize the liner weekly and wash it monthly, and wipe bugs off the shell after each ride.
How fast can we get samples and a first order?
Free samples ship in 3–5 days. MOQ is 500 bottles, and production is scheduled once packaging and labels are approved.
Product usage questions
How do I use it?
Mist liners and pads, blot out sweat with a cloth, and let them dry; spray a microfiber cloth for the shell; remove washable liners for a full hand wash.
When shouldn't I use it?
Don't spray the inside of visors or goggles with anti-fog coatings, and never wipe the shell with solvent cleaners.
Can I clean the outside of the visor?
Yes. Mist a cloth and wipe the outside gently; don't wipe the anti-fog inside.
Can I use it on hard hats?
Yes. Treat hard hat liners and shells the same way.
What about ski helmets?
Yes. Blot the liner and dry; clean goggles per the maker's instructions.
Can I machine-wash helmet liners?
Hand-wash or use a mesh bag on gentle per the helmet manual, and air-dry.
Will a helmet left on the bike smell?
Sweaty helmets sour when sealed up; spray after use and store it somewhere airy.
What should I keep in mind with kids' helmets?
Clean kids' bike and skate helmets as directed, follow the helmet maker's care instructions, and let them dry fully before wearing.
What about knee and elbow pads?
Yes. Spray liners, blot, and air-dry.
Can it fix visor scratches?
No. Replace visors whose scratches impair vision.
How do I get the smell out of my helmet?
Treat the liner, since that's where sweat collects. Mist the liner and cheek pads with CleenU Helmet Cleaner, blot with a cloth, and let them dry somewhere airy. For a strong odor, remove the washable liner and hand-wash it per the helmet manual.
