CleenU product solution
Swimwear Wash
Neutralizes chlorine · Protects color and stretch · Private label
Swimsuits fading and going baggy after one summer, and still smelling of pool chlorine? Rinse in cool water right after swimming, add 1 tsp per half gallon of cool water, soak 3–5 minutes, knead, rinse cool, and dry flat in the shade. With a chlorine neutralizer, factory-direct private label.
- Chlorine in pool water slowly oxidizes swimsuit dyes and spandex, so colors fade and fabric sags and pills, while salt and sunscreen yellow light suits and sweat makes them smell. A water rinse leaves chlorine and sunscreen behind. This wash neutralizes chlorine with sodium thiosulfate, removes salt, sunscreen, and sweat with mild surfactants, and softens water with citric acid, so a cool knead gets suits clean.
- Rinse in cool water and wash soon after swimming, since chlorine does more damage the longer it sits. Hot water, bleach, and dryers all speed spandex aging. Don't wring; roll in a towel and press out water, then dry flat in the shade, out of the sun. Swim caps and sun shirts can go in the same wash.

Before & after
Before and after (illustration)
Before: a black racing suit worn three times a week, smelling strongly of chlorine after two months and starting to look gray. After: rinsed cool after swimming, soaked 5 minutes, kneaded, rinsed, and dried flat in the shade, the chlorine smell is gone, and with regular use fading slows.
- Before: chlorine smell, graying fabric
- Cool rinse, 5-minute soak, kneaded, dried flat
- No chlorine smell, slower fading

How it works
How chlorine gets neutralized
Pool chlorine, as hypochlorous acid and hypochlorite, is a strong oxidizer that breaks down dye chromophores and the polyurethane segments of spandex. Sodium thiosulfate reduces it to harmless chloride while being oxidized to sulfate, nonionic surfactants emulsify sunscreen oils and sweat, and citric acid chelates hard-water ions and keeps conditions mildly acidic.
- Rinse cool after swimming
- 5 mL per 2 L cool water
- Soak 3–5 minutes
- Thiosulfate neutralizes chlorine
- Knead, rinse, dry flat

Where Swimwear Wash stands out
Why swimwear wears out fast
Chlorine in pool water slowly oxidizes swimsuit dyes and spandex, so colors fade and fabric sags and pills, while salt and sunscreen yellow light suits and sweat makes them smell. A water rinse leaves chlorine and sunscreen behind. This wash neutralizes chlorine with sodium thiosulfate, removes salt, sunscreen, and sweat with mild surfactants, and softens water with citric acid, so a cool knead gets suits clean.
Wash soon, never hot
Rinse in cool water and wash soon after swimming, since chlorine does more damage the longer it sits. Hot water, bleach, and dryers all speed spandex aging. Don't wring; roll in a towel and press out water, then dry flat in the shade, out of the sun. Swim caps and sun shirts can go in the same wash.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Find practical answers about Swimwear Wash, private label, samples, MOQ, documents, and delivery.
Product, use, and procurement
Why do swimsuits stretch and fade?
Pool chlorine attacks spandex elasticity and dyes, and hot water and sun make it worse. Washing promptly in cold water with a chlorine-neutralizing wash extends their life noticeably.
Can swimsuits go in the washing machine?
We don't recommend it. Agitation and spinning stretch elastic fibers. Hand wash gently and dry flat in the shade.
How fast can we get samples and a first order?
Free samples ship in 3–5 days. MOQ is 500 bottles, and production is scheduled once packaging and labels are approved.
Product usage questions
How do I use it?
Rinse in cold water soon after swimming, add 1 teaspoon per half gallon of cold water, soak 3–5 minutes, knead gently, rinse cool, and dry flat in the shade.
When shouldn't I use it?
No hot water, bleach, or dryer; don't wring or dry in direct sun.
Can I use it on wetsuits?
Use Dive Gear Cleaner for neoprene wetsuits; this is for nylon-spandex swimwear.
Do I need it after the beach?
Yes. Salt and sunscreen yellow and age swimwear too.
Will it restore faded color?
No. Fading is oxidized dye; this slows future fading.
Can I wash swim goggles?
Soak the straps, yes; don't wipe the anti-fog inside the lenses.
Can aquatic centers offer it in locker rooms?
Yes. Single-use packs suit pool retail or locker room amenities.
Can I wash swim caps too?
Yes. Soak silicone and fabric caps in cool water and air-dry.
What should I keep in mind with kids' swimsuits?
Wash them the same way in cool water and rinse well before drying.
How many washes per bottle?
At about 5 mL per wash, 250 mL covers around 50 washes.
Should I wash my swimsuit after every use?
Yes. Wash it after every swim, whether you were in a pool or the ocean. Chlorine breaks down spandex and dye, while salt and sunscreen yellow the fabric. Rinse in cold water soon after you get out, then soak in the wash, knead gently, and dry flat in the shade.
Can I wash swimwear in hot water?
No. Hot water speeds up the loss of stretch and color, so stick to cold water every time. Skip bleach and the dryer too, and don't wring the suit; press out the water and dry it flat out of direct sun.
