CleenU product solution
Wool & Silk Wash
pH-neutral, enzyme-free · Prevents shrinking · Private label
Sweaters shrinking and silk going stiff and dull? Add about 2 teaspoons per gallon of water under 86°F, press and soak 5 minutes, rinse cool, and dry flat, or use the wool or delicate cycle. Factory-direct private label.
- Wool and silk are protein fibers, and most detergents are alkaline with protease that breaks protein down, leaving garments stiff, thin, and dull. This wash is pH-neutral with no enzymes or bleach; mild surfactants clean out sweat while lanolin keeps fibers soft and smooth.
- Wool fibers have scales that lock together with heat and agitation, which is shrinking and felting. Use water under 86°F, press rather than rub, rinse cool, roll in a towel, and dry flat, never wringing or sun-drying. Send dry-clean-only items out.

Before & after
Before and after (illustration)
Before: a cashmere sweater after a winter, with sweat at the collar and a stiff feel. After: pressed and soaked in 86°F water with the wash, rinsed cool, and dried flat, the sweat is gone, the size hasn't changed, and it's soft again.
- Before: collar sweat, stiff feel
- Gentle soak, cool rinse, dried flat
- Clean, same size, soft

How it works
Why neutral and enzyme-free protects protein fibers
Wool keratin and silk fibroin hydrolyze in alkaline conditions, and protease cuts protein chains, weakening fibers and dulling luster. This wash stays pH-neutral with no protease; mild nonionic and amphoteric surfactants emulsify sweat and oil even in cool water, and lanolin conditioner coats the fibers to reduce friction and keep them soft.
- Water under 86°F
- Add about 2 teaspoons per gallon
- Press and soak 5 minutes
- Rinse cool
- Towel-roll and dry flat

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Find practical answers about Wool & Silk Wash, private label, samples, MOQ, documents, and delivery.
Product, use, and procurement
Why not use regular detergent on wool and silk?
Most detergents are alkaline and contain protease, which breaks down protein fibers and leaves wool and silk stiff, thin, and dull. Use a neutral, enzyme-free wash.
Why do wool sweaters shrink?
Wool fibers have scales that lock together with heat and agitation. Use water under 86°F and press instead of rubbing.
How fast can we get samples and a first order?
Free samples ship in 3–5 days. MOQ is 500 bottles, and production is scheduled once packaging and labels are approved.
Product usage questions
How do I use it?
Hand wash with about 2 teaspoons per gallon of water under 86°F, press and soak 5 minutes, rinse cool, roll in a towel, and dry flat; or use the wool or delicate cycle.
When shouldn't I use it?
Don't rub, wring, or dry in direct sun; send dry-clean-only items to the cleaners.
What about pilling on cashmere?
Pilling comes from friction. A mesh bag and washing inside out reduce it, and a fabric shaver removes existing pills.
Can silk go in the washer?
If the label allows, use a mesh bag on the delicate cycle; when in doubt, hand wash.
Can I use it on down jackets?
Use a dedicated down wash for down, which keeps the loft better.
Will dark silk bleed?
Test an inside seam, wash quickly in cool water, and a splash of white vinegar in the rinse helps set color.
Can I wash a wool coat?
Check the label; don't wash dry-clean-only items.
Can I machine-wash?
Use the wool or hand-wash cycle in cold water in a mesh bag.
How should sweaters dry?
Flat in the shade, not hung, to keep their shape.
Can I use it on silk pillowcases?
Yes, follow the care label and test a hidden seam first. Hand-wash cold or use a gentle cycle, then dry flat.
Can I use this wool wash on silk?
Yes—CleenU Wool & Silk Wash is made for both. Wool and silk are protein fibers, and both are damaged by alkaline detergents and protease enzymes; this wash is neutral and enzyme-free. Use about 2 teaspoons per gallon of water under 86°F, soak 5 minutes, rinse cool, and dry flat. Test dark silk on an inside seam first.
Can I wash wool and silk together?
Yes, if the colors are similar and both care labels allow washing. They need the same conditions—cool water, a neutral wash, and no rubbing—so they can share a basin or a mesh bag on the wool cycle. Wash dark or bright silk on its own the first time in case it bleeds.
How do I wash a wool-silk blend?
Follow the care label and treat the blend as gently as its most delicate fiber. Hand wash in water under 86°F with this wash, press instead of wringing, roll in a towel, and dry flat in the shade. If the label says dry clean only, take it to the cleaners.
