CleenU product solution
Leather Conditioner
Plant-oil nourishment · Leather-friendly pH · Private label
Leather sofa or car seats dry, stiff, and creasing? Clean first, work in a thin coat, let it absorb 10–15 minutes, and buff; the leather comes back soft with a natural sheen and dry, not greasy. Factory-direct private label.
- Leather is fatliquored at the tannery so the fibers stay supple. Sitting, AC air, sun, and cleaners slowly pull those oils out; the surface feels dry first, then fine lines show at the creases, then it cracks. This conditioner turns plant oils, lanolin, and beeswax into a lotion that works into the fibers to replace the oil, while beeswax leaves a thin protective layer.
- Conditioning dirty leather seals sweat, body oil, and dust in and darkens it over time. Clean with a leather cleaner first, then apply a thin coat; several light coats absorb better than one heavy one. Brands can sell cleaning and conditioning as a two-step kit, which drives the steadiest reorders.

Before & after
Before and after (illustration)
Before: the cushions of a five-year-old brown leather sofa feel dry and squeaky, with fine creases and a dull surface. After: cleaned, then conditioned thinly and buffed after 15 minutes, the leather feels soft, has a natural sheen, and the creases no longer look pale.

How it works
How oil gets back into leather
Leather is a weave of collagen fibers, with fatliquor oils between them acting as lubricant. The plant oils and lanolin in the conditioner enter those gaps as tiny droplets to replace lost oil, and beeswax forms a thin film that slows moisture and oil loss. The mildly acidic system matches chrome-tanned leather's pH, so it doesn't stiffen the hide.
- Clean the leather
- Work in a thin coat
- Oils enter fiber gaps
- Absorb 10–15 minutes
- Buff with a dry cloth

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Find practical answers about Leather Conditioner, private label, samples, MOQ, documents, and delivery.
Product, use, and procurement
Why does leather dry out and crack?
Leather is fatliquored with oils at the tannery, and everyday rubbing, AC air, sun, and cleaners slowly pull those oils out. Without them the fibers stiffen, fine lines show up at the creases, and eventually it cracks. Regular conditioning puts the oils back.
What's the difference between a leather cleaner and a conditioner?
A cleaner removes sweat, body oil, and dust; a conditioner replaces oils so the leather stays soft and has a healthy sheen. Clean first, then condition. Conditioning over dirt seals the grime in.
How often should I condition leather?
Every three to six months for a leather sofa; every two to three months for car seats that get sun and friction. If it feels dry or squeaky to the touch, it's time.
What should we decide first for a private-label leather conditioner?
Market, format, and kit. Furniture or auto (auto buyers want UV care and a non-greasy finish), lotion spray or cream tin, and solo or a two-step clean-and-condition kit, which drives the most repeat orders.
How fast can we get samples and a first order?
Free samples ship in 3–5 days. MOQ is 500 bottles, and production is scheduled once packaging and labels are approved.
Product usage questions
Will it leave leather greasy?
No. It's a lotion that soaks in within 10–15 minutes; buff off the excess with a dry cloth and the surface feels dry.
Can I use it on suede or nubuck?
No. Oils mat down and darken napped leather. Use a suede and nubuck product instead.
Will it darken light-colored leather?
Not on typical finished leather. Unfinished aniline and semi-aniline leather absorbs oil fast and can darken temporarily, so spot-test and check after 24 hours.
Can I use it on bags, shoes, and jackets?
Yes, on smooth leather. Use a little at a time, test a hidden spot first, and buff to a shine.
Can I use it on car leather seats?
Yes. After cleaning, apply a thin coat, let it sit a few minutes, and buff; don't let it pool in perforations.
Can it fix leather that's already cracked?
It softens leather and slows cracks from spreading; open cracks need professional repair and recoloring.
Do I need to clean first?
Yes. Remove dirt and oil with a leather cleaner first so the conditioner absorbs evenly.
Will leather conditioner soften stiff leather?
Yes, if the leather stiffened because it dried out. Sun, A/C air, and cleaning strip out the leather's natural oils. The conditioner puts oil back so the fibers can flex again. Apply a few thin coats a day apart instead of one heavy coat. Leather that stiffened from water damage or heat may only partly recover.
Can I use it on vinyl or faux leather?
No. Vinyl, PU, and other faux leathers are plastic surfaces that don't absorb oil, so the conditioner sits on top and feels slick. Wipe faux leather with a damp cloth and a mild cleaner instead. If you're not sure what a seat is made of, test a small hidden spot first.
How long should it dry before I sit on the couch?
Let it soak in for 10–15 minutes, then buff off any excess with a dry cloth. When the surface feels dry to the touch, the couch is ready to use. If it still feels tacky, you used too much. Buff it again before you sit down.
OEM/ODM customization questions
What can we customize?
Formula direction (oil level and sheen), scent, fill size (500 mL spray, 250 mL pump, and more), label design and language, and kits with a leather cleaner, applicator sponge, and buffing cloth.
How should we test samples?
Try them on a dried-out leather sofa or car seat, section by section, and record absorption time, feel after buffing, sheen, and any color change on light leather. That tells you more than a before-and-after photo.
What paperwork comes with a private-label order?
Documents such as SDS/MSDS, TDS, COA, and label copy for your target market are prepared per project. We confirm which ones your order includes when we quote.
