Steamer Descaler
Organic-acid descaler · Faster steam · Private label
Thick, flaking white scale on the steamer’s heating plate, or a steam oven that keeps asking to be descaled? Mix 1:10, run the descale or steam cycle for 20–30 minutes, then two clean-water cycles—bare metal and faster steam. Private label from 500 bottles.
- Each time a steamer or steam oven boils water, calcium and magnesium deposit as calcium carbonate on the heating plate and in the generator. Scale conducts heat poorly; even a millimeter slows steam noticeably and raises energy use, and heavy scale can block a steam oven’s generator and stop it with an error. Regular descaling means faster steam, lower energy use, and longer life.
- Steamers and steam ovens touch food directly, so this uses food-grade organic acids such as citric acid, which dissolve scale while staying gentle on stainless and aluminum. Run one cycle at 1:10, empty it, and run two clean-water cycles to flush out dissolved calcium salts and descaler so the next meal has no sour taste. When a steam oven asks for descaling, follow its descale program in the manual.

Before & after
Before and after (use illustration)
Before: the steamer’s heating plate is covered in thick white scale, flaking at the edges. After: 25 minutes at 1:10 and two water cycles dissolve it, showing bare stainless, and steam comes noticeably faster.
- Before: a thick white crust on the heating plate, flaking at the edges
- After: scale dissolved and bare stainless showing
- Two clean-water cycles, faster steam, no lingering smell

How it works
How Scale on the Heating Plate Dissolves
Scale is mostly calcium and magnesium carbonate. Citric and other organic acids react with carbonate, releasing carbon dioxide, and bind calcium and magnesium into soluble citrate complexes, dissolving the scale layer by layer. Heat during the cycle speeds the reaction and circulates the solution through the generator and lines. Two clean-water cycles carry everything away.
- Organic acid dissolves carbonate
- Chelates calcium into soluble salts
- Heat speeds it up
- Drain
- Two water cycles

Where Steamer Descaler stands out
Scale Makes Steamers Slower and Costlier to Run
Each time a steamer or steam oven boils water, calcium and magnesium deposit as calcium carbonate on the heating plate and in the generator. Scale conducts heat poorly; even a millimeter slows steam noticeably and raises energy use, and heavy scale can block a steam oven’s generator and stop it with an error. Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Find practical answers about Steamer Descaler, private label, samples, MOQ, documents, and delivery.
How to use
My steam oven says descale. What do I do?
Start the descale program per the manual, fill with a 1:10 solution, and rinse with clean water as prompted.
Will food taste sour afterward?
No. Two clean-water cycles flush out the dissolved scale and descaler.
Can I use it in a kettle?
Yes. Boil at 1:10, let stand 20 minutes, empty, and boil clean water twice.
Surfaces and common questions
How often?
Every 1 to 2 months in hard water, 3 to 6 in soft, or whenever steam slows.
Why not vinegar?
It’s faster, odor-free, inhibited, and done in one cycle.
Is it suitable for commercial combi ovens?
Yes, following the equipment’s descale schedule and dose; bulk sizes available.
Can I descale a steam oven’s tank and lines together?
Yes. Add the diluted solution to the tank per the manual and run the built-in descale program—the lines and generator are treated together. Flush with clean water when prompted.
How do I descale an electric kettle?
Fill to the max line with a 1:10 mix, bring it to a boil, let it sit 20–30 minutes, discard, then boil and rinse with clean water twice. Repeat for heavy scale.
Will food taste odd after descaling?
Not after two clean-water cycles. If unsure, run one more and check the tank has no acidic smell before cooking.
How do I descale an electric food steamer?
Stovetop stainless steel steamer pots work too: add the same 1:10 mix to the base, bring it to a boil, let it sit 20–30 minutes, then rinse. For electric steamers, fill the water reservoir with a 1:10 mix of CleenU Steamer Descaler and water, then run one steam cycle, about 20 to 30 minutes. Citric and other organic acids dissolve the white calcium scale into salts that rinse away. Empty it, then run two cycles with clean water. Don't steam food during the descaling cycle.
Can I use it to descale a clothes steamer or handheld steamer?
Use CleenU Steam Iron Descaler for garment steamers instead. This one is made for kitchen steam appliances: electric food steamers, steam ovens, combi ovens, kettles, and rice cooker steam trays. The iron and garment-steamer version is mixed at 1:4 for those tanks and steam paths.
Can I put descaler in a floor steam cleaner?
We don't recommend it; it isn't made for floor steam cleaners. Its intended uses are kitchen steam appliances such as food steamers, steam ovens, and kettles. For a floor steamer, follow the manufacturer's manual on water type and descaling.
Buying and private label
What should we decide first for a private-label steamer descaler?
Three things: home bottle or single doses, appliance-brand accessory partnerships, and commercial bulk needs.
What are the sample, MOQ, and lead-time terms?
Free samples are usually ready in 3–5 days. Standard MOQ is 500 bottles, and bulk orders are scheduled after packaging and labels are approved.
What can be customized?
All of it: formula direction, scent, fill size (500 mL bottle, 1 L refill, and more), measuring-cup cap, single-dose sachets, 5 L commercial, label design and language, and ecommerce bundles with the coffee machine descaler.
Can we test samples first?
Yes, we ship samples first. Test them on scaled steamer plates and kettles like the ones your customers handle, and record descaling speed, residue after rinsing, and effect on stainless and aluminum. That tells you more than a before-and-after photo.
Which documents can you provide?
We provide SDS/MSDS, a TDS, and batch COAs, plus bilingual label content for your target market. They aren’t posted publicly; we send them per project on inquiry.
How is private-label pricing quoted?
Pricing is tiered by packaging, cap type, label, and order quantity, starting at the 500-bottle MOQ. Send your target quantity, fill size, and packaging needs, and we’ll quote unit prices by volume tier with sample and lead-time details.
Launching your own Steamer Descaler?
Send us your market, format, partnership, and estimated volume. We will work through formula and packaging with you.
