Stone Rust Stain Remover
pH-neutral rust remover · Turns purple as it works · Private label
A yellow-brown rust ring on light limestone where an iron planter sat? Spray it; within 5–15 minutes the liquid turns purple as it dissolves the rust. Rinse and repeat for heavy stains—the ring disappears with no etching. Private label from 500 bottles.
- Oxalic and hydrochloric rust removers are fast, but marble, limestone, terrazzo, and calcareous sandstone are mostly calcium carbonate that fizzes and etches in acid. The rust goes, and a dull, rough etch mark harder to fix than the rust is left behind. Stone needs rust chemistry that leaves calcium carbonate alone.
- The active, a thioglycolate, binds iron at neutral pH into a soluble purple-red complex. Within minutes the liquid turns purple, a sign the rust is being pulled out; when the color stops deepening, rinse and the rust goes with the water. Deep stains get lighter with each repeat.

Before & after
Before and after (use illustration)
Before: a light limestone patio carries a yellow-brown rust ring from an iron planter. After: sprayed, purple within 10 minutes, rinsed, and repeated once, the ring is gone with no etching.
- Before: a yellow-brown rust ring on light limestone
- After: the ring is gone with no etching or dulling
- It turns purple as it works—then just rinse

How it works
How Rust Dissolves at Neutral pH
Rust is mainly ferric oxides and hydroxides. The thiol group in thioglycolate reduces ferric to ferrous iron and forms a stable, soluble, purple-red complex, so the rust dissolves out of the pores. The reaction runs near neutral, releasing no acid to attack calcium carbonate, so marble and limestone aren’t etched. Rinsing carries the complex away.
- Thioglycolate reduces ferric iron
- Forms a soluble purple complex
- Leaves the pores
- Rinsed away

Where Stone Rust Stain Remover stands out
Strong Acids Dissolve the Stone Along With the Rust
Oxalic and hydrochloric rust removers are fast, but marble, limestone, terrazzo, and calcareous sandstone are mostly calcium carbonate that fizzes and etches in acid. The rust goes, and a dull, rough etch mark harder to fix than the rust is left behind. Stone needs rust chemistry that leaves calcium carbonate alone.
Purple Means the Rust Is Dissolving

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Find practical answers about Stone Rust Stain Remover, private label, samples, MOQ, documents, and delivery.
How to use
Can it remove rust from marble?
Yes. It’s neutral and won’t etch marble; spray, let it turn purple, rinse, and repeat on heavy rust.
Why does it turn purple?
The active binds iron into a soluble purple-red complex; the color means rust is dissolving.
Does it smell?
Yes, it has a noticeable odor; ventilate or work outdoors.
Surfaces and common questions
Does it work on tile and concrete?
Yes, on tile, concrete, and pavers too.
Will it affect metal?
It can; keep it off metal, aluminum, and car paint and rinse any splashes.
Can it remove oil too?
No; use the Stone Oil Stain Remover for oil.
Can it handle widespread rust staining from irrigation water?
Yes. Wet the whole area, rinse once it turns purple, and repeat as needed. Iron-rich water will keep staining, so redirect sprinklers or add a filter.
How do I treat rust runs on a vertical stone wall?
Use a gel version or apply it on absorbent paper as a compress so it stays put longer. Apply bottom-up and rinse top-down so runs don’t leave new streaks.
What if it gets on nearby metal railings?
Rinse and dry right away—it reacts with iron surfaces. Cover galvanized parts, aluminum frames, and railings before you start.
Will rust come back after treatment? How do I prevent it?
Once the stain is gone, the stone won't rust on its own; rust returns because the source is still there: iron planters, furniture feet, rusty screws, or iron in irrigation or well water. After treating, move or pad the iron items, aim sprinklers away from the stone, add a filter on iron-rich water, and seal the stone once it's dry so less rust soaks back in.
Can I use it to remove rust from tools, metal, or my car?
No. It's made to lift rust stains out of stone, concrete, and tile, and it reacts with iron surfaces, so keep it off metal parts, aluminum frames, and car paint. For rusty tools, railings, or body panels, use a metal rust remover or rust converter. Use this one when that rust has run onto stone and left an orange-brown stain.
Will vinegar, baking soda, or WD-40 remove rust stains from stone?
Not well, and vinegar can make things worse. It's an acid that etches marble, limestone, and concrete, leaving dull marks while the rust deep in the pores stays put. Baking soda only scrubs the surface, and WD-40 is a lubricant that won't dissolve iron oxide and can leave an oily mark. Use a pH-neutral stone rust remover instead: it turns purple as it pulls the iron out, then you rinse it away.
Buying and private label
What should we decide first for a private-label stone rust stain remover?
Three things: gel or liquid (gel for vertical surfaces), channel (stone care, home improvement, or property), and your market’s labeling rules for thioglycolate products. “Neutral, marble-safe, visibly turns purple” is the pitch.
What are the sample, MOQ, and lead-time terms?
Free samples are usually ready in 3–5 days. Standard MOQ is 500 bottles, and bulk orders are scheduled after packaging and labels are approved.
What can be customized?
All of it: formula direction, scent, fill size (500 mL spray, 1 L refill, and more), mist or foam trigger, label design and language, and ecommerce bundles with the stone oil stain remover.
Can we test samples first?
Yes, we ship samples first. Test them on rust-stained marble, limestone, and concrete samples like the ones your customers handle, and record rust removal, effect on marble gloss, and color reaction. That tells you more than a before-and-after photo.
Which documents can you provide?
We provide SDS/MSDS, a TDS, and batch COAs, plus bilingual label content for your target market. They aren’t posted publicly; we send them per project on inquiry.
How is private-label pricing quoted?
Pricing is tiered by packaging, trigger or cap, label, and order quantity, starting at the 500-bottle MOQ. Send your target quantity, fill size, and packaging needs, and we’ll quote unit prices by volume tier with sample and lead-time details.
