Cement Residue Haze Remover
Acid haze remover · Post-construction · Private label
New tile that looks grey and feels gritty, with dried grout along the joints? Wet it, spray, wait 3–5 minutes, scrub, and rinse well—the tile’s true color and texture come back. Acid formula for post-construction cleanup; private label from 500 bottles.
- Laying and grouting leave a thin film of cement slurry on the tile. The calcium hydroxide in it reacts with carbon dioxide in the air and slowly turns into calcium carbonate that bonds to the surface: that grey, rough haze. Mops and ordinary cleaners can’t shift it. This remover’s acid reacts with the carbonate and hydroxide to form soluble calcium salts, so the haze thins, softens, and scrubs off.
- Grout is cement-based too, so acid acts on it the same way. Soak the floor and grout lines with water first so the grout absorbs less acid, keep dwell time controlled, then rinse with plenty of water and pick up with a wet mop. Ideally wait until grout has fully cured, usually a week or more, before the haze clean.

Before & after
Before and after (use illustration)
Before: a new rustic tile floor is coated in grey-white cement haze with dried grout along the joints, rough underfoot. After: wetted, sprayed, scrubbed, and rinsed, the haze is gone and the tile shows its true color and texture, smooth to the touch.
- Before: a grey-white cement film and dried grout at the joints
- After: the film is gone and the tile’s color and texture show
- Rinsed thoroughly, smooth rather than gritty

How it works
How Cement Haze Dissolves
Cement haze is mostly calcium carbonate and calcium hydroxide with some calcium silicate. Hydrogen ions react with the carbonate to form soluble salts and carbon dioxide (the fizz) and neutralize the hydroxide into salt and water, breaking the binder that holds the film together. The brush lifts the loosened residue and a heavy rinse carries off the salts and leftover acid. Silicates react more slowly, so thick haze may need a second pass.
- Pre-wet grout
- Acid dissolves carbonate and hydroxide
- Fizzing
- Scrub
- Heavy rinse

Usage guidance
Use guidance
- Wait until grout has fully cured. Sweep dust, then soak the floor and grout lines with water.
- Apply neat on heavy haze or at 1:3 on light haze and wait 3 to 5 minutes, until you see fine fizzing.
- Scrub with a stiff brush or floor machine, rinse with plenty of water, and pick up with a wet mop; repeat on remaining spots.

Where Cement Residue Haze Remover stands out
Cement Haze Won't Mop Off Because It Has Set
Laying and grouting leave a thin film of cement slurry on the tile. Wet the Grout, Apply, Rinse Hard: Protect the Joints

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Find practical answers about Cement Residue Haze Remover, private label, samples, MOQ, documents, and delivery.
How to use
New tile looks grey and feels rough and won’t mop clean. Why?
That’s cement slurry from laying and grouting that dried into a haze, mostly calcium carbonate bonded to the surface. Water and ordinary cleaners can’t remove it; it needs an acid haze remover.
How long after tiling should I do this?
Wait until the grout has fully cured, usually a week or more. Using acid on uncured grout can dissolve the grout too.
Will it damage the grout?
Soak the grout lines first so they absorb less acid, keep dwell to 3 to 5 minutes, and rinse heavily; fully cured standard grout is barely affected. Test colored grout in a corner.
Surfaces and common questions
Can I use it on marble?
Never. Marble, limestone, and terrazzo are calcium carbonate and will etch permanently.
Should I dilute it?
Use it neat on heavy haze; for light haze or large areas, dilute 1 part to 3 parts water, which is cheaper and gentler.
What protection do I need?
Acid-resistant gloves and goggles, with windows open. Flush skin or eyes with plenty of water if splashed. Never use with bleach.
Why do I have to wet the floor first?
Pre-wetting saturates the joints and tile so the acid works only on the surface film instead of soaking into and attacking the grout. On a dry floor it can also react unevenly and leave marks.
There’s still a white film after scrubbing. What now?
First make sure it was rinsed well—leftover product and dissolved calcium salts dry white. Rinse with plenty of water and squeegee. If it’s still white, the haze was thick; let it dry and do one more round.
Can I use it on wall tile?
Yes. Wet and spray from the bottom up so product doesn’t run down dry tile and leave streaks, then rinse from the top down after scrubbing.
Will grout haze go away on its own?
No, cured haze stays put. As cement residue cures, it reacts with carbon dioxide in the air and turns into calcium carbonate that bonds to the tile, so mopping won't move it. An acidic haze remover turns that film into soluble calcium salts you can scrub and rinse away. Wait until the grout has cured, wet the floor first, then treat.
Does vinegar remove grout haze?
Vinegar is a weak acid, so expect slow progress on cured haze. It also attacks the same things a haze remover does, including marble, limestone, and cement-based grout, so it isn't a gentler shortcut. CleenU Cement Residue Haze Remover is formulated for this job, with corrosion inhibitors and a low-foam wetting agent that carries it into the tile surface. Use it neat on heavy haze or 1:3 with water on light haze.
Can I use it to remove haze from stainless steel or metal fixtures?
No. Keep it off aluminum and metal hardware, including faucets, trim, and frames. It's an acidic product made for tile and acid-resistant stone. When you treat the floor or wall, cover nearby metal and rinse any splashes off right away with plenty of water.
Buying and private label
What should we decide first for a private-label cement residue haze remover?
Three things: professional bulk for contractors and cleaning companies or small retail bottles; ready-to-use or concentrate; and which market’s hazard labeling applies. This is a strong acid, so warnings and acid-resistant packaging must be settled together.
What are the sample, MOQ, and lead-time terms?
Free samples are usually ready in 3–5 days. Standard MOQ is 500 bottles, and bulk orders are scheduled after packaging and labels are approved.
What can be customized?
All of it: formula direction, scent, fill size (500 mL spray, 1 L, 5 L, and 20 L containers, and more), mist or foam trigger, label design and language, and ecommerce bundles with a stiff brush and acid-resistant gloves.
Can we test samples first?
Yes, we ship samples first. Test them on new tile panels with cement haze like the ones your customers handle, and record haze removal, scrub passes, and effect on grout and metal fittings. That tells you more than a before-and-after photo.
Which documents can you provide?
We provide SDS/MSDS, a TDS, and batch COAs, plus bilingual label content for your target market. They aren’t posted publicly; we send them per project on inquiry.
How is private-label pricing quoted?
Pricing is tiered by packaging, trigger or cap, label, and order quantity, starting at the 500-bottle MOQ. Send your target quantity, fill size, and packaging needs, and we’ll quote unit prices by volume tier with sample and lead-time details.
Launching your own Cement Residue Haze Remover?
Send us your market, pro or retail, pack sizes, and estimated volume. We will work through formula, acid-resistant packaging, and warning labels with you.
