CleenU product solution
Pool Filter Cleaner
Alkaline degreaser · Soak and rinse · Private label
Filter still clogged after hosing it off, and the water's cloudy? Spray the pleats with undiluted concentrate from a sprayer or soak at 1:10 for 8–12 hours, rinse, and reinstall; sunscreen and body-oil film rinse away. Concentrate, factory-direct private label.
- Pool and hot tub water carries sunscreen, body oil, and lotion that coat the pleats. A hose clears leaves and grit but not that film, so pressure climbs, flow drops, and the water clouds. Alkaline builders saponify and emulsify the oils, and after a soak a rinse carries it all out.
- Cartridges often carry both oily film and white calcium scale. Acid first doesn't work well because the oil shields the scale. Degrease and rinse with this cleaner, then treat scale with an acid filter cleaner. The two have separate jobs and must never be mixed, which also makes a natural degrease-plus-descale kit.

Before & after
Before and after (illustration)
Before: a cartridge used for a season has gray-yellow pleats that feel slick and stay oily after hosing, and the gauge reads high. After: soaked overnight at 1:10 and rinsed, the pleats are lighter, no longer slick, and pressure drops once reinstalled.
- Before: gray-yellow, slick pleats
- After soaking: lighter pleats
- Reinstalled: lower pressure, stronger flow

How it works
How the oily film rinses out
The film is mostly sunscreen, skin oil, and lotion oils bound up with debris. Alkaline builders saponify the oils into soluble soap, nonionic surfactants emulsify what's left, and chelators tie up calcium and magnesium and free trapped particles. The soak gives the chemistry time, and water flow carries the emulsion out of the pleats.
- Hose off debris
- Spray neat from a sprayer or soak at 1:10
- Saponifies and emulsifies oil
- Soak 8–12 hours
- Rinse until no suds

Product, use, and procurement
Why is my filter still clogged after I hosed it off?
A hose only clears loose debris like leaves and grit. Sunscreen, body oil, and lotion leave a grease film on the pleats that water won't move; it has to be emulsified with an alkaline cleaner first.
When should I deep-clean the cartridge?
Check the pressure gauge: about 8–10 psi above the clean reading, or noticeably weaker flow or cloudy water, means it's time. No gauge? Every four to six weeks.
What about white, crusty scale on the filter?
That's calcium, and it needs an acid filter cleaner. Degrease first and rinse, then descale; done the other way, the grease film shields the scale from the acid. Never mix the two products.
What should we decide first for a private-label filter cleaner?
Three things: ready-to-use spray or soak concentrate (pool service pros prefer concentrate jugs), whether to sell a degrease-plus-descale kit with a soak bucket, and target market, so labels use the right units for North America, Europe, or Australia.
What are the sample, MOQ, and lead-time terms?
Free samples are usually ready in 3–5 days. Standard MOQ is 500 bottles, and bulk orders are scheduled after packaging and labels are approved.
Does pool filter cleaner really work better than just hosing it off?
Yes, for the oily film a hose can't remove. Sunscreen, body oils, and lotion coat the pleats in a film that water alone slides right over, so pressure stays high even after a good rinse. CleenU Pool Filter Cleaner is alkaline, which emulsifies that film so it rinses away. Hosing still handles leaves and grit, so do both.
What is pool filter cleaner made of?
CleenU Pool Filter Cleaner is an alkaline concentrate made to emulsify oils, lotions, and sunscreen in cartridge pleats. It does not remove calcium scale; that takes a separate acid descaler, used after degreasing and never mixed with this product. Wear waterproof gloves and eye protection when handling it.
Product usage questions
How long should I soak the cartridge?
For normal buildup, soak at 1:10 for 8–12 hours; overnight is easiest. For light maintenance, spray the pleats with undiluted concentrate from a sprayer, wait 15–30 minutes, and rinse.
How long should I rinse it?
Until no more suds come out from between the pleats. Work top to bottom, pleat by pleat; leftover cleaner will foam in the pool.
Does it work on hot tub filters?
Yes, and they need it more. Hot tubs hold less water at higher temperatures, so lotion and oil concentrate faster; clean the cartridge every two to four weeks.
Can I use it on sand or DE filters?
It's made for pleated cartridges. Use a sand or DE filter cleaner for those systems and follow the equipment instructions.
What precautions should I take?
It's an alkaline concentrate, so wear waterproof gloves and eye protection, rinse any skin contact right away, and store it out of children's reach.
How often should I deep-clean the cartridge?
About every 1–2 months, or when pressure reads roughly 8 psi above clean; more often in peak season.
What if the cartridge gets dirty again fast?
Check water balance and sanitizer, and replace cartridges with torn pleats or more than 1–2 years of use.
What's the best way to deep-clean a pool cartridge filter?
Hose, soak, rinse, then dry. Hose off loose debris first, then soak the cartridge in the cleaner diluted 1:10 for 8 to 12 hours, or spray the pleats full with undiluted cleaner and wait 15 to 30 minutes. Rinse pleat by pleat until no suds appear. If white scale remains, follow up with an acid filter descaler after degreasing.
OEM/ODM customization questions
What can be customized?
All of it: strength, fill size (500 mL spray, 1 L concentrate, 1-gallon jug, and more), trigger type, label design and language, and ecommerce bundles with an acid descaler and a soak bucket.
Can we test samples first?
Yes, we ship samples first. Test them on cartridges your customers have used for at least a season, and record filter pressure and flow before and after, suds during rinsing, and the condition of the pleat fabric. That tells you more than a before-and-after photo.
Which documents can you provide?
We provide SDS/MSDS, a TDS, and batch COAs, plus bilingual label content for your target market. We send them per project when you inquire.
Launching your own pool filter cleaner?
Send us your market, spray or concentrate, whether you want a degrease-plus-descale kit, and estimated volume. We'll build it out with you.
