Tune formulas for cabin fabric, glass, the engine bay and exterior trim
Car Interior, Glass & Engine Bay Cleaning Solution
Each detail area of a car has its own soil and its own risks. Cabin odor needs capturing, not perfume. Glass needs anti-fog on the inside and water repellent on the outside, and swapping them does not work. Engine bay grime needs an alkaline degreaser, but electrical parts must be covered first. Yellow headlights are oxidized plastic that needs polishing plus UV protection, and faded black trim needs restoring rather than a coat of shine. CleenU matches ten detailing products to those areas and offers OEM/ODM private label for car-care brands, rideshare and rental fleet buyers, and cross-border sellers.

Cabin, Glass and Engine Bay, Chosen by Area
For cabin odor, mist the car odor eliminator onto seats, carpet, mats and headliner from 8–12 inches until just damp, close the doors for 10 minutes, then open the windows to dry. For AC odor, set fresh air on high, spray 3–5 times into the passenger-side intake, run 10 minutes, and replace a dirty cabin filter first. Foam the floor mat cleaner on mats for 3–5 minutes and scrub; use interior wipes on hard surfaces. For glass, anti-fog goes on the inside and water repellent on the outside, never swapped. Use windshield washer concentrate in the reservoir at 1:20 in summer and 1:4 in winter, never undiluted. For the engine bay, wait until the engine is fully cool, cover the alternator, intake and connectors, spray the engine degreaser, wait 3–5 minutes, and rinse with low pressure, never a pressure washer. Use the headlight restorer with a UV sealant, the trim restorer on black plastic, and the enzyme remover on bugs and droppings. Always follow each product label and check the material first.
- Cabin Odor: Mist fabric until just damp, close the doors 10 minutes, then air out; AC intake 3–5 sprays, run 10 minutes.
- Glass: Anti-fog inside, water repellent outside, never swapped; washer fluid 1:20 summer, 1:4 winter.
- Engine Bay: Cool fully, cover the electrics, spray degreaser 3–5 minutes, rinse with low pressure.
- Headlights & Trim: Mask the paint and polish headlights, then add UV sealant; thin coat on clean black trim.
- Avoid: No direct spray on leather or screens, no hot engines, no undiluted washer fluid.

Where to Use It
Cabin Fabric & Mats
Mist odor eliminator on seats, carpet and headliner; foam mats for 3–5 minutes and scrub, and dry carpet mats fully before refitting.
Glass
Anti-fog for fog inside, water repellent for sheeting outside; dilute washer concentrate by season and never add it undiluted.
Engine Bay
Let the engine cool fully, cover the alternator and intake, spray degreaser, and rinse with low-pressure water.
Headlights, Trim & Bugs
Polish headlights then add UV sealant, wipe a thin coat on black trim, and soften bugs and droppings before lifting them off.
Spot-test natural stone, coated, and wood surfaces in a hidden area first.
When Not to Use It
- Soaking leather seats with odor eliminator or spraying it straight onto screens and the dash: use leather care on leather and a screen cleaner on displays.
- Using water repellent on interior glass or anti-fog on exterior glass: water repellent is for exterior car glass only, anti-fog for the inside only.
- Hot or just-shut-off engines, or rinsing without covering the alternator and intake: let it cool fully, cover the electrics, and never pressure-wash up close.
- Cracked or leaking lenses and glass headlights: the restorer is for polycarbonate lenses, and damaged lenses need repair or replacement.

Compare the Options
Four common areas compared by product, pH, foam level and method. Cabin and odor products are near-neutral fine mists or a mildly alkaline foam for mats, applied lightly or scrubbed, then dried. Glass splits by side: anti-fog and water repellent are not interchangeable, and washer fluid is diluted by season. The engine bay uses an alkaline water-based degreaser, sprayed after cooling and covering and then rinsed. Exterior restoration covers three different actions: the headlight compound polishes, the trim restorer colors and conditions, and the enzyme remover softens bugs and droppings.
| Cleaning Job | Where | Strength | Foam | Method |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cabin | Fabric, mats, interior surfaces | Near-neutral to mildly alkaline, pH 6.0–9.5 | Fine mist or foam | Mist lightly or foam and scrub, then dry |
| Glass | Inside glass, outside glass, reservoir | Anti-fog pH 6.0–7.5; washer fluid pH 7.0–9.0 | None | Anti-fog inside, repellent outside, washer fluid by season |
| Engine Bay | External engine and bay walls | Alkaline, pH 11.0–12.5 | Spray or foam | Cool and cover, spray and wait, rinse with low pressure |
| Exterior Fixes | Headlights, black trim, front end | Compound pH 7.0–9.0; restorer pH 6.5–8.0; enzyme pH 7.0–8.5 | Cream or spray | Polish plus UV seal, thin coat, or soften and lift |
How to Use It

Confirm whether it is fabric, leather, glass inside or outside, plastic or engine metal.
- Spot Test
Test leather, matte wraps, coatings and unknown plastics in a small area first.
- Cover and Cool
Let the engine cool fully and cover the electrics, mask paint around headlights, and work in the shade.
- Check the Finish
Check vision through glass, dry fabric fully, and keep polished lenses dry for 24 hours after UV sealant.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about how to use it, which surfaces are safe, and private-label orders.
Use & Cleaning
Why does air freshener make smoke or pet odor in my car worse?
Fragrance only masks, and the odor molecules stay in the fabric. The odor eliminator uses cyclodextrin to enclose odor molecules, with adsorbing ingredients, so mist seats, carpet, mats and headliner lightly until damp, close the doors 10 minutes, then air out. Pet urine still has to be cleaned up first.
The AC smells every time I turn it on. What should I do?
Set fresh air on high, spray the odor eliminator 3–5 times into the passenger-side intake, and run it for 10 minutes. If the cabin filter is already dirty, replace it first; the spray does not replace a new filter.
What is the difference between anti-fog and glass water repellent?
They work on opposite sides. Anti-fog goes on the inside of the glass so moisture spreads into a clear film instead of fog; water repellent goes on the outside of car glass so water beads and rolls off. Do not use repellent on interior glass or anti-fog on the exterior, and clean the glass first either way.
Surfaces & Safety
Can I rinse the engine bay straight with water?
Not directly with a pressure washer. Let the engine cool fully, bag the alternator, intake, fuse box and exposed connectors, spray the degreaser, wait 3–5 minutes, brush gently, and rinse with low-pressure water without letting it dry. Do not work on a hot or just-shut-off engine.
Can I use the headlight restorer on paint?
No. The compound is abrasive and will scratch paint, so tape off the surrounding area first. It is also for polycarbonate lenses only, not glass headlights or cracked or leaking lenses, and polished lenses should be finished with a UV sealant.
Can I pour undiluted windshield washer concentrate in the reservoir? How do I dilute it?
No. Dilute 1:20 in summer and 1:4 in winter (protects to about 5°F), and for tablets dissolve one in 2 L of water. Do not mix it with other brands, and thaw the lines first if they are frozen.
Private Label & Sourcing
Can these car detailing products be private labeled in small batches?
Yes. CleenU supports OEM/ODM for odor eliminators, mat cleaners, anti-fog, washer fluid, engine degreasers, headlight restorers and more. Standard sprays and liquids start at 500 bottles; wipes are set by specification and pack format.
How long do samples and production take?
Free samples are usually ready in 3–5 days. After packaging and labels are approved, standard projects are scheduled when the order is confirmed, and wipe projects are scheduled once specifications, packaging and labels are confirmed. Confirm details against your project.
Can you build headlight kits or washer tablets?
We can discuss it. Common directions include headlight restoration kits (compound, sandpaper, pads and UV sealant), 1 L washer concentrate and tablets that make 2 L each, 300 mL and 100 mL travel odor sprays, and channel case packs and ecommerce bundles.

Building a Car Detailing Range? Start with Free Samples
Detail care works best when each product goes where it belongs: odor captured in fabric, mats scrubbed by material, anti-fog inside the glass and water repellent outside, washer fluid diluted by season, the engine bay degreased only after it cools and is covered, headlights polished and sealed against UV, and black trim restored rather than just shined. Every area has places the product must not go, so check the directions first. Brands building a detailing range can combine products by area and request free samples from CleenU.
